Itinerary

Day 1Arrive in Manali

he starting day of the tour will lead us to meet the staff and create a rapport, with not just team, who would be guiding you about the things to do and don’ts, but also getting familiar with the bikes that will be the part of our overall journey. After greeting session, we will be testing the bike with a short ride across the Manali town, visiting places of interest such as the Solang Valley, Hadimba Temple and Sissu Valley. We will cover approx. 100 km and then off to our hotels for a comfortable sleep post dinner.

Distance : 100 Kms

Day 2Manali - Jibhi ( 130 kms )

On the following day, we ride from Manali to Jibhi via Kullu. After a refreshing breakfast, we ride to a small hamlet in the Tirthan valley. The village of Jibhi is on the outskirts of the great Himalayan National park and just 8 kms before the Jalori pass. The ride on this day is along the banks of river Beas for most part and once we enter the Tirthan valley, the natural splendour of the place is just amazing. We take a small detour and visit Shangarh, a meadow on top of a hill, straight out of a post card. Our halt for the night is at Jibhi which  is surrounded by thick Deodhar and pine forests and many hiking trails lead into the forest for us to explore if you are up for it.

Distance : 130 Kms

Day 3 Jibhi - Rampur

Day 3 ride from Jibhi to Sarahan would bring us closer to our first Mountain pass of the tour, jalori pass. Settled in the lower ranges of the Himalayas, Jalori pass (10800ft) is one of the lesser-travelled passes but an important connection between the Kullu and Sainj valleys. The winding roads of the pass offer the first major riding challenge as the road is not metalled, but carved out of mountains. Further on from Jalori we explore the town of Rampur and enter the  Kinnaur valley, one of the places often titled amongst the most dangerous roads in the world. We halt overnight at Sarahan, which is a small village famous for Bhimakali temple, dedicated to Goddess Bhīma Devi.

Distance : 131 Kms

Day 4 Rampur - Sangla

After breakfast at Sarahan, we begin the 85 km ride to Sangla in the Baspa valley. Baspa valley is the final valley in India, which connects its border with Tibet. The Baspa river flows in the Sangla Valley which is rich in apple orchards, apricot, Wall-nut, Cedar trees, and glacial streams with trout. The road offers pleasant views with a valley of flowers running parallel to a stream for a good part of the road. The most vital achievement of this region worth being lauded is that this area boasts of growing the world’s best quality potatoes. Though only 85kms, the journey takes time, as the roads are narrow and stops for Photography are very frequent.

Distance : 82  Kms

Day 5Sangla Valley

We have a short ride to Chitkul, the last Indian village on the Chinese border planned for this day. After breakfast we ride to Chitkul, visit the village and return to our campsite in Sangla for Lunch. Post lunch we cross the Baspa river on foot and visit Batseri village, interact with the locals and learn about Kinnauri way of life, through their stories and also pay a visit to the local temple, a fine specimen of religious harmony in the region.

Distance : 40  Kms

Day 6 Sangla - Kalpa

On 6th day of our Tour De Spiti, we ride from Sangla  to Kalpa. We would be continuing the same road that brought us to Sangla till Karchham from where we take a right on to the NH22 and climb beyond Reckong Peo, the district headquarters for Kinnaur. Reckong Peo is also the place where we get the inner line permits for the Spiti Valley. We visit Roghi, famous as the suicide point , but you would not find a more apt place for a photograph, we guarantee. Our overnight stay is in Kalpa village, which has a history of ancient temples and majestic view of Kinner Kailash Peak.

Distance : 90 Kms

Day 7Kalpa - Nako

With completing our half journey, we begin our travel the next day with a descend from Kalpa village. The condition of the road gets better as we head along to our next stop, which is Nako village. The Village has an 11th-century Monastery and a small lake. Nako overlooks the Reo Purgyal, which has an elevation of 6,816 meters (22,362 ft) and is the highest mountain in Himachal Pradesh. The village is now near the Nako Lake formed by the slopes of the mountains of Reo Purgyal, compared to the opposite bank across the Nako river where it was located earlier and then shifted because of tectonic shift at the site.

Distance :  107 Kms

Day 8 Nako - Kaza

The road connecting Nako to Kaza is one of the pleasing roads we will come across in Spiti Valley. Our first halt in this 130 km journey is a detour of 15kms that we take to visit the Gue monastery, which is home to a perfectly preserved Mummy form the 15th century. Our next halt is Tabo Monastery, a monastery that is claimed to be one of the holiest in the world by HH the Dalai Lama. The monastery celebrated its millennium anniversary in 1996 and is a must visit. After spending some time at the monastery we would head towards the town of Kaza, which is the headquarter of the Spiti valley.

Distance :  130 Kms

Day 9 Kaza

The 9th day of this Motorcycle tour of Spiti Valley is reserved to enjoy the magnificence of Kaza. We would visit the Key  and Kibber Gompa along with a visit to the major tourist attractions in and around Kaza, Tangyud Monastery. We shall also cover the loop of Langza, Komic, Hikkim villages which have the highest post office in the world, the highest village with year round residence in the world and a great place for collecting some fossils.

Distance :  60 Kms

Day 10 Kaza - Chandertal Lake

Day 10 is yet another adventurous day that would take us through the highest suspension bridge in Asia, Chicham bridge and through our second high altitude pass, Kunzum pass. Located at an altitude of 15060ft, Kunzum is the gateway to Chandertal, the moon lake. We would be camping near the lake and this promises to be an adventure within the adventure. The ride from Kaza to Chandertal is rough and tough as the road is mostly broken and the terrain tough. The distance of 80 km should take about 4-5 hrs

Distance : 80 Kms

Day 11Chandertaal - Manali

We recommend an early morning ride to check the sunrise at the lake.  After breakfast at Camp, we take the long road back to Baatal. The ride is completely on the off road segmented takes some time getting to Gramphu, from where we take a right and oride on back to Manali via the magnificent Atal Tunnel.  the lush green forest of Manali that welcome you back from this adventure provide an instant reset and the difference in Landscape in 30 mins ride puts things in perspective. Today’s the last day of our tour and by the evening we Reach Manali and have a Farewell dinner and share our thoughts about the adventure.

Distance :  111 Kms
